What We Do

Since we started in 2002, we have treated over 1000 patients with life-threatening diseases and prognoses of under 12 months. As we have no actual hospice facility, our medical team (consisting of 5 doctors, 4 nurses and a social worker) visits our patients in their own homes. Our services include medical care and training family members. As we cannot be with our patients 24/7, it is important that their relatives know how to spot dangerous symptoms and to administer medicine. However, our services do not stop there.

We are aware that this is a difficult time for all the family and thus we provide counselling to not only our patients but also their relatives and friends during this period of hardship. Additionally, we do not just leave the family once the patients’ suffering is finally over, rather we offer bereavement counselling and stay in touch with them as necessary. In 2008, we started to make home visits to children with terminal illnesses referred to us by the Oncology Hospital here in Chişinau. As a result, we now employ a full-time paediatrician there to ensure that palliative care can be administered by an experienced professional where needed within the hospital.
