The „Angelus” Charity Ball – a debut with perspective
The ball was preceded by a classical music concert at the National Philharmonic Hall “Serghei Lunchevici” with participation of celebrities as Mihai Munteanu, Constantin Moscovici, Maria Tonin and the state philharmonic orchestra, directed by the great director Mihai Agafita. The viewers had the possibility to enjoy the famous musical operas. The main event of the evening, the ball, was opened with a waltz of students from the National College of Choreography, conducted by Eugen Girnet. During the evening the visitors had the occasion to enjoy an exceptional recital of Mihai Munteanu, “Improvise Quintet” offered a warmth ambiance with their jazz music, and the Ederlezi song was a special gift for everybody. Inga Milosavljevic surprised everyone with the organization of a small recital of the „JJ Jazz” quintet – young and wonderful singers with a lot of enthusiasm. A latino spirit was offered to the evening by the popular singer Geta Burlacu, who also participated actively at the auction. Ilan Girnet, a great violinist and the winner of Queen Elizabeth competition also performed.
The celebrities of the evening were the prime-minister’s family Sanda and Vlad Filat, and the deputy president of the parliament, Serafim Urechean. The loftiness note and the felling of a real ball were kindly inspired by the honour guest, Princess Marina Sturdza. She is the honor chairman of the Charity “Angelus Moldova” and she came to Chisinau with the occasion of the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day in order to support the activities of Hospice “Angelus”. Her speech during the ball was touching and nobody could remain indifferent after it. Princess Marina mentioned that “…hospices have the aim to ensure that we end our lives in dignity, with elegance, and without pain. The doctors from Hospice “Angelus” are doing an essential work, which gives dignity to those who need it and to their families…”The culmination of the evening was an auction, with the same charity aim. The lots for the auction were generously donated by the friends of Hospice “Angelus” – families, companies, celebrities. The most popular were the cakes offered by the French cafeteria “Delice d’Ange” and a book with autograph donated by Paulo Coelho.
The Charity Foundation for Public Health “Angelus Moldova” is grateful to all those who contributed to organization of this event, dedicated their time, talents and money so the Hospice “Angelus” could offer continuously free qualitative palliative care to those patients who need them most. We would like to thank Ms Svetlana Bivol, the director of the National Philharmonic Hall “Serghei Lunchevici” for the organization of an exceptional concert, to the artists who performed both at the concert and ball, the symphonic orchestra, and to the conductor Mihai Agafita.
