Launch of the project “Development of palliative care services in Taraclia”
The project “Development of palliative care services in Taraclia” will be launched on October 7th 2009. This is a project supported by Soros Foundation Moldova and the Swedish International Agency for Development SIDA.The targets of the project are:
- Implementation and development of home based palliative care services for incurable and terminally ill patients in Taraclia
- Offering free palliative care services for at least 60 incurable cancer patients
- Training in palliative care domain of one doctor, one medical assistant and one social assistant
During the project, the Charity Foundation for Public Health “Angelus Moldova” will do the following activities
- Training of the professional team in order to be able to perform social/medical services to patients and their relatives
- Raising awareness among the population
- Offering free palliative care services, information and counselling to patients and their families
- Promotion of volunteering as a way of solving the social problems within the community
According to the implementation plan of the project, from 7th to 11th of September 2009, the palliative care team from Taraclia was trained by the national trainers in palliative care from the Charity Foundation “Angelus Moldova”.
